In the spring of 2005, Thomas Thiel and Michal Wright formed the band that was later to be known as Cairo. They were quickly joined by Martin Dorfner
The Armies of Compassion
This German American indie rock band from Munich creates a unique sound involving all the different musical influences of its members. The mixture of tempos and rhythms make a surprisingly new, yet familiar sound. Cairo's lyrics broach society, politics, consumption and interpersonal stories in a critical and ironic way. In the end it's a necklace made of pearls, of songs between Grunge, Americana, Britpop and Wave.
